I Almost Missed It: A Moment That Impacted My Speaker Journey
I almost missed an opportunity that shifted how I see myself not just as a speaker, but as a voice meant to be heard in rooms I hadn’t even imagined.
SpeakerCon.
I wasn’t sure if I could go. I had doubts, timing conflicts, and that whisper of hesitation that shows up just when you’re on the edge of something powerful.
But I’m so glad I didn’t let the moment pass.
A year ago, a friend gifted me a ticket to SpeakerCon. I hadn’t seen it advertised. I wasn’t even sure it was for me. But I showed up.
And that decision is leading to positive change everywhere.
Thank you, Dr. Cheryl Wood Founder of Speaker Con and GSU for your work, your vision, and your relentless determination to make SpeakerCon a space for everyone. Your belief in inclusive stages and powerful storytelling cracked something open for me.
Since that first conference:
I’ve found my voice—and I now trust it.
I’ve said yes to writing, and I’m now on the journey to becoming an author.
I’ve taken the stage as an international speaker.
I’ve spoken on platforms I once thought were out of reach.
I’ve learned how to speak with intention, craft my message, and receive real, transformative feedback.
In Cheryl’s speaker training programs, I didn’t just get encouragement I got direct, actionable feedback, deep coaching, and insight from a teacher trained by two of the world’s best: Lisa Nichols and Les Brown. That level of mentorship changed how I show up as a speaker.
I once heard someone say, “The speaking industry is stale, pale, and male.” That might still be true in some spaces. But I now know there are places like SpeakerCon where every story matters, every voice belongs, and your message doesn’t have to fit a mold to make an impact.
There are many ways to develop a speaking practice and another great program HEROIC Public Speaking is also a program that has helped me sharpen my skills in strategy, stage presence, and impact.
My years supporting national meetings for biotech and pharma companies prepared me to command stages, and I once believed speaking had to look a certain way, but at SpeakerCon I was reminded that the most powerful voice I have is my own.
If you’re planning a conference, summit, or speaker series, and you’re looking for someone who brings strategy, storytelling, heart and soul to the stage we must connect.
My topics include:
Rewriting limiting beliefs
Negotiating what matters most
Leadership and mindset
Boundaries & balance in work and life
Whether it’s a corporate event, a women’s retreat, or a gathering of aspiring leaders I meet people where they are and move them to where they could be.
Send me a message I would love to hear from you and learn more about how my experiences and message from the stage will have a positive impact on your business.
